25 luxury condos with Best Picture-caliber screening rooms

February 28, 2025

The Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2 will take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, but several 2025 nominees have connections to New York. Best Actor nominees Timothée Chalemet and Colman Domingo lived in the same Hell’s Kitchen building at the same time. Best Supporting Actress nominee Zoe Saldana grew up in New York as well as the Dominican Republic, and Best Supporting Actor nominee Kieran Culkin lives in the city.

Best Picture nominees Anora and A Complete Unknown are set in New York, and smash Broadway musical Wicked was adapted into a film nominated for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture. It was also nominated for Best Costume Design, and nominee Paul Tazewell told Gothamist that Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Chrysler Building, and Rockefeller Center inspired his designs for the movie.

Oscar viewing parties are taking place all over the city, and those who’d prefer to watch from home can watch on ABC, Hulu Live, YouTube TV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV. Lounges with big-screen TVs have become the norm in multi-family buildings, but some developers have taken it to the next level by adding screening rooms with state-of-the-art technology, cushy seating, wet bars, and stages that allow for live events as well as televised ones. This article looks at the most beautifully appointed screening rooms in new development condos throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.

The wellness and social amenities of 255 East 77th Street balance traditional design details with modern aesthetics. These include a cinema-quality screening room with a warm atmosphere and comfortable seating.
